Texas is home to four national forests, including Conroe’s own Sam Houston National Forest. This 160,000-acre forest is where you’ll find the Lone Star Hiking Trail, the longest continuous hiking trail in the state at 128 miles. Goodrich Jones State Forest, a 1,733-acre nature area, is a favorite destination for bird lovers, boasting more than 250 species, including the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker that nests in the pine trees throughout the forest. From fall through spring, the 22,000-acre Lake Conroe attracts impressive birds like Bald Eagles, Osprey, Red-breasted Nuthatches, and Winter Wrens, all making the lake’s shores their home. River Plantation Golf Club is a public 18-hole course featuring water hazards and bunkers that test your accuracy. It includes a driving range and golf instruction to those of all skill levels..

The Golf Club at Margaritaville Lake Resort, located on the shores of Lake Conroe, offers a beautifully redesigned 18-hole course with strategic holes and smooth putting surfaces. PGA-certified instruction and practice facilities are available to players.

Panorama Golf Club features 27 holes and operates as a semi-private course with public access, providing a friendly atmosphere for all golfers.
