Every month of the year the City of Conroe hosts fun family events for both residents and visitors to the community. July is no exception during National Recreation and Park Association Month (NRPA). The theme for NPRA Park and Recreation Month July 2018 is “A Lifetime of Discovery”.

“Discovery” is collaborative with “Adventure Awaits” the tag line for the Visit Conroe Convention and Visitors Bureau. Enjoy adventures in Conroe through discovering some of the featured special events planned for July.

Free Concert

April through September the City of Conroe hosts a free concert at Heritage Place Park the First Thursday of each month from 6:30-9:30pm. Chairs and coolers are allowed, and alcohol available for purchase inside the park. The July First Thursday concert July 5 featured a tribute band with music of Journey. A splash pad keeps the kids entertained while the parents sway to the music.

Free Movie in the Park

Remember the days of the Drive-in movies? Heritage Place Park will host “Back to the Future” at dusk on Friday July 20 th. No car needed, just bring your blankets and lawn chairs. Concessions will be available inside the park.

Additional activities throughout the month include Double Dip Tuesdays and Thursday with 2 for 1 admission to the Aquatic Center after 5pm and a month-long selfie contest ending July 31. Take a photo of yourself having fun in one of the parks and post it to the Facebook page to try to win the most LIKES with the hashtag #DiscoverJuly.

The City of Conroe hosts many free events for families throughout the year with the Parks and Recreation Department. Kidzfest is held the last Saturday in April in the Downtown Conroe area with games, interactive booths, food, rides, and activities in a fenced area for increased security of the children. The Annual Easter Egg Hunt with Mr. Bunny, May Movies in the Park, a Trick or Treat Trail in October, and a huge Christmas Celebration the First Saturday in December are all offered by the parks without any fee.

Basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, covered pavilions at the parks, stages, and community centers are available for tournaments, competitions, and special events when reserved in advance.

No lack of adventure in Conroe. July is a great time to check out the splash pads, the Aquatic Center, and the over 20 parks in Conroe!
