The Montgomery County Fair has something for Everyone!
For 61 years the Montgomery County Fair Association (MCFA) has been a focal point for entertainment, food, and above all a place for the entire community to embrace the youth with recognition and scholarships for graduating seniors. Since 1993 over $1.9 million dollars has been awarded to local high school seniors. From early beginnings in an auction barn in the early 60’s to the current destination on Airport Road at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, the MCFA welcomes more than 600 volunteers to a 10-day event with a rodeo, games, educational exhibits, a carnival, the highly popular championship barbecue cook-off and several high energy concerts included in the fair admission.
Opening Day of the MCFA is Friday, April 13th and continues through Sunday April 22. During the 10 days there are continuous activities designated for Kids, Seniors, pets, Hispanics, and Special Education groups. One of the highlights is the rodeo and livestock events. Kids get involved in Muttin’ Bustin’, Stick Horse Races, Inflatable Pony Races, and Boot Scrambles. The Livestock Show is an opportunity for youth to show rabbits, poultry, lambs, horses, goats, and steers for significant prize money. There are also 1,600 non-livestock entries from youth in cooking, handicrafts, homemaking, horticulture, needlecraft, and photography.
